SHEIKH ZAYED GRAND MOSQUE ABU DHABI

To show you this adorable masterpiece is a great pleasure for me guys! I am so thankful and happy I have the possibility to discover the world’s treasures and to share it with you on Skinnycature. As you see from the shots I am talking about the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque – a project of the late president of the United Arab Emirates that became a national icon!  While staying in Abu Dhabi we just couldn’t miss the possibility to visit this architectural beauty. I was warned that I must literary cover my body, so the outfit you see on the shots was covered by the traditional piece – Abaya. It felt somehow absolutely strange for me but as I respect the traditions and culture of each country I just did it 😉

Well, I must admit that day the temperature was incredible (I am very honest by saying we had officially 40 degrees centigrade, but I could swear it was even hotter) and I really suffered 😉 taking the shots under the burning sun. But as we had a tight schedule we couldn’t choose any other time slot for sightseeing.

The Mosque appeared to be absolutely spectacular in its architectural and creative beauty. If I’m not mistaken it took about 12 years and labor of 3000 people working at temperatures far over 40 °C to complete this project. Designers, features, materials and suppliers from nearly every corner of the globe (among them Italy, Germany, Morocco, India, Turkey, Iran, China, Greece and the UAE) were involved. The mosque site is equivalent to the size of approximately five football fields!!! And I must say It constitutes one of the most amazing and prominent architectural monuments in the world combining tradition and modernity. And of course one can’t forget all the precious materials and unique interior design.

I am so sure I’ll always remember this unforgettable travel moment! ❤
